Just back from the first ever Word Festival NW at Astley Hall in Chorley. And what a fantastic event.

The festival was a sell-out, and saw more than 50 North West writers, editors, and illustrators networking and sharing, and even swapping their favourite books.

Kate Feld, writer, editor, and award-winning blogger, delivered a fabulous session on blogging and other social media management, and how it can help you raise your profile as a writer;

Kerry Wilkinson, astoundingly successful e-book author, was asked a 1000 and 1 questions from the audience about his writing and marketing methods which were inspirational to many of the writers interested in e-book publishing;

Ra Page, editor and publisher with Comma Press, and Literature Northwest, gave an incredibly useful talk and Q&A session about approaching publishers and agents, with some particularly useful dos and don’ts;

Claire Massey, writer and editor, delivered an insightful session and Q&A on the power and value of the short story genre;

and several delegates rounded a pretty brilliant day off very nicely indeed with some fabulous open mic performances.

The Word is that this event was so successful that we are hoping to make it an annual event!

A HUGE thank you, both to our fabulous guest speakers, and to all the delegates, without whom this event would not have been anything like as fantastic!
